A Week in the LIfe...

It's been lots of moving in and lots of work this week.

Work has beenn going along pretty well. I am working with people in plant to go through all the processes and get them charted out. The fun part comes when we start discussing what we want to change in what we do and how to improve our processes.  Fun stuff.  I will need to put together a presentation for when we have our offsite meeting at Kiawah August 24-25.

I have been up late most nights this week getting unpacked and getting things set up at the new house and getting everything out of the apartment.  We bought a new TV stand last week that I put together Sunday.  Monday was garage day.  On Tuesday we got our new computer desk, so I put that together.  On Wednesday, we finally got our cable installed. So while the cable guy (not Larry) was getting the line to the house all up to snuff, I was at Best Buy picking our wireless networking equipment.  I got that up and running Wednesday night.  It is great!

I really enjoy having a huge back yard.  It is great for the dog to get some exercise.  It is also cool to know that the kids are safe when they are outside.  They are getting to know lots of kids in the neighborhood.  It seems like most of the kids are about Emaleigh and Matthew's age.  I haven't me many of the neighbors yet, but Amy has met the parents of some of the kids.  Once we get the yard cleaned up and grass growing, it will be great.  We will have to get croquet and bocce ball and jarts.

RIP
My Old Stereo

Okay, it didn't die. We just gave it away.  It was old and didn't fit anywhere now that we don't have the huge entertainment center.  Giving it away makes room for something better.

We have found a church that we really like.  It is Northpoint Community Church We like the atmosphere and the pastor. It is a very contempory church. We were really lucky to find this church.  I went to one church my first week down here.  It was okay, but too traditional for my tastes. If found this one on an on-line list of Columbia Baptist Churches, so it was really fortunate. They have great kids programs, and it looks like they have some interesting small group studies coming up.  The pastor was on vacation this month. He had some other pastors talk one week. They were talking about the light vs. the dark in people. The youth pastor brought up something interest. He said that some studies show that some students spend as much as 10 hours per day on the internet IM'ing, Xanga, MySpace, etc.  He said the average is about 3 hours per day.  Wow.  Anyway, one of his points was that some people are different people on line than they are in person.  I see how this can be...

His message reminded of a point that Pastor Jeff brought up a while back about Xanga and the Internet.  He said people needed to be cautious about what they post.  There are people out there that can use anything you post.  Most pictures I have seen can be saved by anyone who views them.  Anyone can copy these pictures to their computer and use them later without your knowledge.  All I'm trying to say is BE CAREFUL OUT THERE IN CYBERSPACE . (Because is Cyberspace, no cares if you scream.)

That's all for now!  Have a great one.  Oh, and keep the MOSES teams returning from Mexico and the Northpoint team in Nicaragua.in your prayers.

Been a Long Time

I thought (and have been told) that I am way overdue for a post.  As most of you know, we have moved to sunny South Carolina.

I had my resume on various on-line sites for some time when in April a recruiter called me to arrange an interview down here for a controller job.  So I agreed and came down here May 4. The president of the Company looked at my resume and basically said he didn't want me for the Controller job, but to fill a need for an ERP (short for computer system that is used to run the company) project manager.  I had some experience from my previous job in working on the team that implemented the ERP system there.  After much prayer, we decided to make the move down here.  New career, new Company, new location.

So I arrive here on May 31 to start work on June 1.  The first few weeks on the job were spent getting to know the Company and the procedures involved in making the product. Then I got a break from work to go on vacation in Wisconsin.  That was a great time getting together with friends.  It was warm weather, mostly sunny.  We truly had a good time.  The best part of the vacation was selling our house and signing and faxing the purchase agreement while at our freinds' relatives' house.

We had found a house here prior to our vacation and got the offer signed.  Once we got back from vacation, we got everything rolling to close on the house down here.  We closed this past Tuesday and have been going over there everyday.  We got some new appliances and new ceiling fans to get in place before all our furniture arrives, which will be some time later today.  So at the moment we own two houses and live at neither.

The weather down here is what I expected. It has been very warm down here.  The high temp was over 90 for all but four days so far this month. So we've been glad the pool here at the complex.

That's about all.  I hope my futrue posts are more frequent.

...I hope it didn't take long for you to get over the shock of me posting.
Anyway, Happy Thanksgiving, Merry Christmas, and Happy New Year (all belated, of course [sorry!]).

It's been a pretty good two and half months.  We have got a lot done on the kitchen.  The drywall has been the worst so far, but now that's behind us...  The top half is done, except for the trim.  Now on to the bottom half.  The floor and base cabinets are purchased and ready to install.  The plumbing and counters will have to follow pretty close afterwards.  Then we will need a little trim and moulding and be done and on to the dining room.  Amy has done a great job of getting pictures at every stage, as I am sure you have seen.  She's also done a great job of being patient because this has taken forever (it seems).  She's even bruised her shoulders, along with her sister, holding up cabinets level while I got them fastened.  What a trooper!

Over the past couple months I have read The Chronicles of Narnia.  I have thoroughly enjoyed the books.  I finished The Last Battle yesterday.  (You were right about it Craig. It was awesome.)  I read them in the "traditional" order, which, chronologically, is 2, 4, 5, 6, 3, 1, 7.  Of course, this is the order in which they were released.  It was very interesting to read the beginning, followed immediately by the end.  I think my favorite was Voyage of the Dawn Treader just for all the different places and situations, and of course, Reepicheep and Eustace.  One of my favorite scenes in the entire series is Eustace and Aslan on Dragon Island.  I won't say any more. You have to read about it yourself.

Also, I have been reading 1776 by David McCullough.  This has been great to read, for a history book.  It reads like a novel.  Just a great writing style.  I like most the focus on the people involved in the early stages of the Revolutionary War.  Washington is the main focus of the story.  McCollough researched the letters and diaries of Washington and other people to bring you closer to the people involved.

Work has been busy, as usual.  So between the kitchen, work, spending some time with the family, and other activities, it hasn't been a priority to post.

Well, I should post again sometime in mid-April, so look for an update then.

Wow.  It's been a while since I posted.  Nothing has really changed.  Just working, going to the Y, hanging out with the family.

Some highlights this fall have been going to Klackle orchards and my cousin's wedding.  This past weekend we went to the Northview High School play (Our Town).  Mike and Pat are very talented.  Nicely done, guys.

I have been taking the 5:45 AM spinning class at the Y.  That is quite the workout.  Anyone want to join me?

Youth group has been great.  Hanging out with all the kids is fun.  They are all great kids.
